Our Story - How We Got Here

It all began with a dream, an idea, and hard work. My house was always the place to go for get togethers, BBQ’s, and holidays. The beer is cold, the grill is hot, everyone is welcome, and nobody goes hungry. Chasing after this feeling came pretty naturally.

The Food Trailer

The food trailer started as a salvaged construction trailer in May 2023. I built it in my driveway. The frame, the siding, the plumbing, electrical, everything. It took about a year, and after it was fully built, I partnered with Lift Bridge brewing and a few other local businesses to get started on the weekends in between working full time as a master mechanic.

Lift Bridge Partnership

What started as Saturday food trucking at the taproom from 12-8, quickly took off. Our very first event in April 2024, sold 150 racks of ribs and 250 pounds of chicken wings in about 2.5 hours. Pretty soon we moved to Saturday’s and Sundays at the brewery. Then we moved to Thursday-Sunday at the brewery. At this point, I made the decision to leave my career as a mechanic and go full time into the food truck business. In October of 2025, it was necessary for a brick and mortar location. Lift Bridge had a kitchen that was very under utilized. I struck a deal to lease directly from them. They run the drinks, I run the food. Basically, we were still a food truck business, but now we were inside the brewery we had partnered with.

Today

On May 1st, 2026, Lift Bridge brewing company ended their lease with the building the brewery resided in, and Busted Knuckle BBQ & Tavern was born. Still the same great BBQ it always was, except now Busted Knuckle runs the entirety of the cocktail and beer program and totally changed the vibe of the taproom right back to Busted Knuckles roots. The beer is cold, the grill is hot, everyone is welcome, and nobody goes hungry.
